A Leader of My Writing As far as the connections are Greek life helped me understand different parts about my writing. Forcing myself out of my comfort zone, I learned to communicate better with other people and learned to have fun with others around me. My social life during high school is a complete 180 from what it is now. Greek life has aided me in realizing how my writing can be altered in a same fashion as my social life has matured. From Greek life, I met a variety people and had the opportunity to see different perspectives to each person. During my times in high school, I never socialized with many people, except for my closest friends. From this, I grew very single minded coming into college. The faces some people portrayed was†¦show more content†¦Many of the poems, I selected in the anthology reminded me of approaching death and the time fading. Seeing these different perspectives in other people helped me realize the different insight and angles at which poems can be understood. Improving my social skills, required revisions on my part. I learned that if I changed certain ways to myself people will enjoy my presence more. I then put what I learned from myself and used it towards my writing. I learned to be direct and succinct, approaching a person and introducing myself rather than taking outlandish calculations to meet by coincidence. Similarly in my writing, I learned to revise my essays with a direct approach. Before English 1302, I often felt the need to â€Å"prep† up my writing and add â€Å"fluff.† However, this lead to me add a superfluous description to the extent where my main argument did not go through. Thus I within my revision exhibit I portray how I learned to be more direct and clear. I improved my word choice in order to create a point and support it and reduce repetitiveness to cut straight to the point. Changing my grammar in order to make my essay more readable and fluent. Word choice is often important in conversations and essays. Using proper words explain the author’s main argument. Many times I felt that my word choice is poor but I learned to improve my interpersonal skills by talking with more people and

If I had to pick three lessons that impacted me the most this semester I’d have to choose: Facial Expressions, Personal Appearance and Detecting Deception. I always thought I was good at reading people but I soon realized that I, just like most people in society today, jump to conclusions that can cause a lot of confusion. I have never been able to keep control of my facial expressions. I roll my eyes constantly and wear my feelings on my face, as some people have told me. I never thought it was that much of an issue until taking this class. I realized that I could be coming across as a completely different person and be judged based on that assumption by someone. â€Å"In a real sense, our quest for meaning in this world begins and ends with facial expression† (Eaves and Leathers 25). This line stuck out to me more than anything else in this chapter, making me realize how much I need to work on making sure I come across the way I am wanting to. I also have been working on â€Å"reading† further into people’s facial expressions, to see if it could help me in understanding the real reason for their attitudes. Since I plan on being a counselor in the future I feel that really being able to read someone will help me be able to dig deeper into some of their issues. I have always tried my hardest to not judge someone by their outward appearance. When I do catch myself though, it can usually be read on my face. Ronald W. Reagan American presidents are often faced with making decisions and implementing plans that affect the lives of so many people. America’s 40th president, Ronald Reagan, through his leadership prevented a nuclear war with the Soviet Union and avoided the loss of American lives in Libya. President Reagan was an effective visionary leader and an ethical leader when he negotiated with the Soviet Union to avoid nuclear war and prevented Americans from being harmed in Libya. Russians And Bosnians Essay Paper Historically and politically, the Bosnians and the Russians are a perfect match.This history started in the middle of the first thousand years A.D. when the tribes called the Southern Slavs migrated into the southeast area of Europe known as the Balkans. The Slav people as they are known, were separated from the Northern Slavs, that is, related Slavs in Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Russia, by the non-slavic tribes that settled the lands of Austria and Hungary. The Bosnians original ancestors were the Southern Slavs. They raided areas throught the Balkans including what is now modern day Serbia.This tribe eventually split up, mostly for religious and political reasons but also because the geography of the region is such that large groups of Slavs became separated and isolated from one another because of the difficult terrain. When religion came to the Balkans, where you were physically had as much to do with what religion you grew up with as other reasons. The Serbs who were closest to the Byzantine Empire geographically, took up the Eastern Orthodox Religion. The peoples in what is now Croatia, Slovinia and Bosina were infuenced by Rome and took up Roman Catholicisim. However, the Bosnians, who were alwasys being threathned politically by the Orthodox Christian Serbs as well as their Roman Catholic neighbors, by the fifteenth century had made apolitical decision to align themselves with the rising power of the Ottoman Empire, and converted to Islam. Russia, the country where most of the Southern Slavs came from had accepted the Eastern Orthodox religion at around the time the Serbs did. This religious bond between Russians and Serbs was very strong and the two groups supported one another for virtually their entire history up to and including modern times. The Serbs supported the Russians in almost all their wars and helped the Russians gain control of part of the Eastern Mediterraen from the Turks. This is why the Russians are deeply interested in this area and feel they have a special role to play in the current conflict. The Balkans are the reason that World War I had started. The Serbs of 1914 was as determined then, as they were for centuries, of preserving their independence in the Balkans. A wider war in the Balkans could risk the security of Europe, and possibly draw Moslen nations into the war. On a more imeadiate level, the reason for peace in Bosnia is so urgent is because cities, roads, bridges, have been destroyed in the conflict. A good example of this is Sarajevo, ( a major muslim city) that was known for its cultural mixture. It was the site of the 1988 winter olympics which welcomed hunreds of atlethes from all over the globe. The city is on the Bosinian-Serb border and has been shelled by both sides in the war. However, a far more important reason is to prevent this local war from starting a wider confrontation that would risk the security of Europe, and possibly draw in Moslem nations to support the Muslims in Bosnia. Russian soldiers are going to be among the troops keeping peace in Sarajevo as well as in other towns in Bosnia. The rusians are trying to improve relations with the U. S. and are doing so by working with the U.S. on keeping peace in the Balkans. Both President Yeltsin of Russia and Clinton Of the U.S., have met several times over this issue. They decide that a good way to improve rlations betwen the two countries. Part of the debate over rusian troops betwen Russia and the U.S. was who mwould command the Russsian troops if they were sent. The Russians did not want teir troops under a NATO command because they thought that Nato was anti- Russian. Another topic of their debate was where were the Russian troops to be deployed. The russians wnated to be deployed in Bosnian Serb teritory, and the U.S. wanted them deployed in Bosnian Croat territory. Finally an agreement was reached. The Russians would send fifteenhundred troops to Bosnia. They were scheduled to arrive in mid-December 199 5. Both sides agreed that the Russian troops would report to their own commander, General Leonti P. Shetsov. Shetsov had worked with Nato in the past as well as the U.S. military and was sen as a good fit. He however would still be technically under Nato command as it is Nato that is overseeing the operation. Further the Russians are contributing troops to an international brigage that would include troops from France, the U.S. and other countries. After much debate it was agreed that the Russians would be deployed in the corridor that separates eastern and western parts of Serbian controlled Bosnia. In total close to fourthousand Russian troops will eventually be in Bosnia. Many people have questioned whether or not a Russian presence in Bosnia ca help bring about a lasting peace. The signs are that it can. Before the peace treaty was signed President Clinton was able to bring about a cease fire. This cease fire lasted until the peace treaty was signed. One problem was getting the Bosnians to agree to a cease fire while gas supplys from Russia to Sarajavo were turned off. The American Ambasador Mr. Charles Pickering asked officials in Moscow to turn the gas back on. They did so and the cease fire began.

The title, My Name Escapes Me, may be implying that his name, Alec Guinness, which the public remember it as when it has disguised itself with a new identity, is not here in the book with the real Alec Guinness. He is presenting himself out side the film in normal life. Perhaps, he now wants us to remember him without the images of his well-known name and face, appearing on the screen. Perhaps, that is the reason that he is documenting himself as in realistically at his retirement stage. However, in the same way that he has always disguised himself in different personas to us, this again is a new Guinness to us, bringing out curiosities. His familiar name also created mystique around the book; there is little insight created by the title. Alec uses his title, his new name effectively reach out for publicity. He refers records of peoples deaths as obituaries, a formal announcement or report of a persons death, often giving details of their life and work; I had hoped to complete this d iary with no further obituaries but that was not to be. Sometimes, somehow, I must try to write something about Peter. This quotation gives insight about his character. He seems to want to write more personally on the topic of his death. However, his official documentation remains impersonal. He admits that this diary is formal official document. Again, his identity is immortalized in the words he writes, in the same sense that his previous identities in the films have been immortalized on the screen.
